Healing
Design Objective:
The purpose of this assignment is to select a word to explore and create two meanings of that word. Each of these words were to be shown or revealed using three elements: photography, vector image and text. We were to create images in a poster format as well as thinking of where or how these images could best be used in the world around us.
The word I chose was ‘heal’. The objectives were met through a series of sketches, word associations, dictionary definitions, thesaurus and other brainstorming techniques; as well as critique from my peers and professor. I feel I was successful in achieving these goals and enjoyed the process of taking my own photographs to capture the word or essence of the word I had chosen. I think each of the parts of the posters balance each other well and contribute evenly to the posters. Each of the posters use asymmetrical balance, which I personally feels adds more visual interest into my design. There is good visual hierarchy and typographically they work to bring the
elements together.
The first image speaks of physical healing, while the second image deals more with emotional healing.
