PenSense

Design Objectives:
To create and market a new ‘digital’ pen with the function of scanning, photographing and copying handwritten information and other data instantly into editable digital format. This wireless pen uses new sixth-sense technology to interact instantly with personal computers and other Apple products; both as a mouse and laser for professional presentations. With sophisticated programmable user recognition, this digital pen works with international banking industries to give the user instant update on their financial business, as well as prevent third-party fraud and theft.
Logo:
The most logical direction for the logo and name for this new product would be the iPen, following with their current branding campaign. However, the fact that such a pen is introducing totally new sixth-sense technology to the market, I decided to use the name of PenSense. Using such technology would in fact change the face of technology and with that perhaps a new marketing campaign should be considered. It is indeed nothing we have seen made available to the public and to brand it with the already established direction would undermine the power of such a tool and pen.
There is no mistaking the fact that it is still an Apple product due to the incorporation of the Apple icon. Considering Apple has an international reputation the logotype could use the verbiage “PenSense” or would work solely with the icon shown on the left. I have continued using Myriad Pro for the font choice and am using Pantone 305C as my sole colour. While I considered other colours, the simplicity of such allows the new product to establish continuity with their other line of products.
